Sweet Relief

For the first time in five and a half months Lovey and I are happy to walk into our house. There is no more goopy paint remover, brick dust, or trash. There are no more nails, strange carpet smells, or random power tools. The upstairs is utterly livable.I am most happy about having our books out and knick-knacks arranged in a pleasing fashion. It is nice to see Lovey items and my items together in our home. They were together in the apartment but having them in this house that we have patiently worked at for the better half of a year...well that is something all together different. Somehow we have a lot of Asian and Asian inspired objects. I was unaware of this until I started unpacking them.
And these Lane end tables that mom and I found at a local antique store for $40 each. They are just the epitome of mid-century cool. You can see mine already outfitted with knitting books and a project basket tucked underneath.
Finally, some picture on the wall including this embroidery by my great-grandmother.
It's strange how we become so attached to the certain small objects around us. I have had that piggy bank for as long as I can remember and the four small framed prints by Carl Larsson hung in my nursery.
So I am relieved to have all those small items that define a space as "home" around us again. I am looking forward to some peaceful dinner and knitting this evening.

I am so glad to hear you are relaxing some. You have earned the right to sit with Ellie and enjoy resting time. The living room looks all parts wonderful...essence of Molly-Dave. I especially love how our homes create pathways backward and foreword across generations.

Love,

Mom
