Button Me Up
From time to time I borrow the button maker at my brother-in-law's store What the Rock?! and we make small batches of pin-back buttons at work for events and conferences. These are always fun times and usually result in one or two hilarious buttons featuring celebrity crushes, fabulous unicorns, or Conway Twitty. Last night I ventured into a new realm of button making.
I have been wanting to make fabric covered buttons for a while and finally sat down with Ellie to figure it out. It is incredibly easy.
I read on a couple websites and forums that you don't have to buy the kit, that you can wrap a regular button in fabric and sew off the back.
The kit and some refills cost a couple dollars and, for my money at least, was worth every penny! It is quite satisfying to feel the little snap of the back popping onto the front. It is even more satisfying to pop the button out of the mold.
Love it. Now I need to re-evaluate my wardrobe. I feel most of my clothing is woefully lacking in fabric covered buttons.
